Want a Deal? Go On Thursday
Most days of the week, tickets are $8.25 for adults, $6.25 for children from age 2-12, and $7.25 for seniors. Children under two get in for free. Everyone can get in for free if you come on Thursday. This special deal is the perfect way to see the zoo when you’re on a budget. You’ll still want to bring some money with you, though, so you can go on a train ride and ride on the carousel.
All Aboard the Z.O.&O. Express Train
You can hop aboard this train for $3.50 or just $3 if you’re a friend of the zoo. The train has long been a staple of the zoo, but many complained it was too short. That’s no longer a problem, thanks to the expansion that occurred in 2019. Now, the ride is almost twice as long as it was before. You’ll take a one-mile tour of the zoo and then cross a bridge that sits 30 feet above the water. Keep your eyes open because you might spot a paddleboarder down below. Then, you’ll swing by the Children’s Museum of Illinois before going back to the zoo.
Take a Ride on the Endangered Species Carousel
The zoo’s endangered species carousel is $2.50 a ride, or $2 for Friends of the Zoo. The carousel consists of 30 animals that represent endangered species. Your kids can learn about the species while going for a spin. The carousel is truly stunning and so much fun for little kids.

Enjoy Parents Night Out
Do you need a night out, but your kids want to go to the zoo? You can compromise by signing up for Parents Night Out on July 9 or Aug. 13. Kids aged 6-11 will enjoy animal encounters, crafting, pizza, and more. You will have three hours to do anything you want before picking the little ones back up. Maybe you can go to a movie or grab some dinner. On the other hand, you might even just want to relax at home for a bit before it’s time to pick up the kiddos.
It’s easy to see why so many people love going to the Scovill Zoo. You can book your tickets online and then head over for some family fun. You can even make a day of it by visiting the nearby Scovill Sculpture Park and Children’s Museum of Illinois while you’re out.
