Though specialty coffees are usually reserved for coffee shops, there’s no reason you can’t make your favorite coffee recipes at home with just a few ingredients and a few tools you can pick up at the store. Let’s take a look at a few specialty coffee recipes you can make this fall!

Tools

  • French Press, Moka Pot, or a coffee maker with a “concentrated” setting
  • Milk Frother
  • Microwave

Method

To make your own latte at home, you’ll start by brewing four ounces of coffee that will serve as the espresso in your recipes. This can be done using a Moka pot, a french press, or a coffee maker that offers a concentrated setting. While the coffee is brewing, you’ll heat up 1/2 cup to 1 cup of your preferred milk in the microwave and froth it with a milk frother for 30 seconds to one minute. When the coffee is brewed, pour it into your mug, pour the milk in, and add any flavorings you’d like. Though it won’t be the same as your favorite coffee shop, this DIY alternative is sure to hit the spot on a Tuesday morning!

Salted Caramel Latte

Salted Caramel is the perfect addition to coffee. The malty burnt-sugar notes of the caramel with the added salt pair perfectly with coffee. Try adding 1 to 2 tablespoons to your latte depending on how sweet you like your coffee.

Maple Syrup Latte

Like caramel, maple is another fantastic pair with your coffee. Again, add a few tablespoons to your latte once the coffee and milk are both poured in the mug. Cinnamon would also be a welcome addition to this drink!

Pumpkin Spice Latte

It wouldn’t be fall without a pumpkin spice latte, would it? To make your own at home, sprinkle in a few shakes of a pumpkin spice blend with a little sugar to sweeten things up. Alternatively, you can ask your favorite coffee shop if they would sell a bottle of their pumpkin spice syrup to you!
