Now that the holidays are over, you may be feeling a little drained and in need of some pampering. You don’t have to go far to treat yourself. In fact, you can do it from the comfort of your own home. These DIY massages will have you feeling relaxed in no time. Focusing on different areas that can hold tension, this step-by-step guide can help anyone become their own personal masseuse. Here are some helpful tips for massaging your head and scalp, shoulders and neck, and feet.

Head and Scalp

Scalp massages can be done anywhere at any time, so take advantage of this one as often as you’d like. Begin by placing the heel of your hands right by your temple, under your hair. Press your heel gently but firmly up toward the top of your head. Do this slowly and hold for a few seconds at the top before you release. Do this in sections across your entire head for a relaxing scalp massage.

Shoulders and Neck

Many of us are guilty of slouching over our computers all day long at work. Reverse the tension in your shoulders and neck with this massage. Drop your shoulders and sit up straight, then slowly start to tuck your chin to your chest. Put a fingertip or two to the place where your neck and shoulders meet and press lightly for a few seconds. Release when your muscle starts to feel more relaxed and then roll your shoulders forward. Repeat this as often as you need it.

Feet

Standing on your feet for hours can really take a toll on them. Release this tension by giving yourself a good foot massage. Grab a tennis ball or any other small rubber ball, and roll it with mild pressure all along your heel, arch, and toes. This feels amazing on sore feet. Another massage is to sit your foot on your knee and rub along your toes and the ball of your foot if your tension lies there.
